It is not always about the narrative. Sometimes it just feels good to look at it and try to see it. aldocamargo2@gmail.com

Io Sono

Io Sono
Artist Statement: I search for the arbitrary in any given sequence of moments. Photography offers the challenge of capturing any given slice of my internal dialogue as I and it observe the world around me. We often walk through living distracting ourselves by selectively setting our perceptions of the world around us in accordance with a path of least resistance. We see, but don’t. We feel, but can’t. We search but have never learned to use our own internal compass in our search for a personal voice. Camera as magnetic north and megaphone… I love the act of living. I love the world around me even when my separation from it pains me deeply, sometimes framing the image of me as a fly floating in a glass of milk. I want that nanosecond wherein I had a reason for being by being able to capture “it” from behind my camera; be it detail, fragment, section, shadow, trail or whole. We were not and cannot be, unless we are intent on being what we dream. When it works for me, the images that is, I taste...the umami of life. Aldo Camargo
